Ahhh rest day, one of my favorite words. I typically train 6 days a week and some days it’s 2 hours or more of training. That doesn’t include nutrition prep, drive time to training, research, stretching, scheduling, etc. Which means that a large amount of time goes into training for a triathlon. I am sure that in some ways the time it takes to do these things lessens as you get more accustomed to doing them, I am also sure that it increases depending on your race(s). I am lucky enough to have 2 rest days this week which totally rocks. So what do I do on rest days? Well that depends on when the rest day falls. Luckily this day I was able to spend the day with my children. Often on rest days I am running around in circles trying to get everything accomplished for the weekend ahead as my rest days are typically on Fridays. Having one on Monday is super nice. I was able to send out emails, clean on my house for expected company, spend time watching ‘Once Upon a Time,’ with my kiddos (win win) while icing my leg, organizing pics for scrapbooking, and much more. Totally wonderful to have a catch up day. I also got a chance to schedule our week ahead which is something we do each week along with our menu. I have found that having all of my nutrition for the week ahead is super beneficial for me. I am able to go shopping typically only once a week and save myself a ton of time and stress. On a side note I finally was able to register for my race today. So it’s official. Jenny Duncan is doing the Coeur d’Alene Triathlon. Woot!! Big huge training week ahead for me this week and the coming week. Almost there! Time to head back to icing, something that I used to ignore but have now learned the true benefit of. (Yes you were right Jeremy) See you all tomorrow.
